Earning Certification Maintenance Points (CMPs)

Professional Development Activities / Continuing Education

Each CHMM is responsible for:

  • Seeking out activities that relate to the competency requirements of the CHMM examination and contribute directly to their professional competence.
  • Earning sufficient CMPs to recertify their credential.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation of their participation in those activities.
  • Submitting documentation if selected for audit or IHMM requests verification of activities and CMPs claimed.

RECERTIFICATIONS DUE IN 2010 for the 5-Year Period of January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2009.

IHMM developed the CHMM Recertification Program to provide certificants with guidelines to help them retain professional currency in their field. Professional development experiences are valuable learning activities, and certificants may receive Certification Maintenance Points (CMPs) by engaging in qualifying programs. Recognizing that there are many different types of professional development activities that CHMMs can participate in to help them maintain that currency, the Recertification Program provides various options certificants may utilize in meeting recertification requirements. For more information please view the CHMM Recertification Handbook (effective January 1, 2009).

PLEASE NOTE

IHMM does not evaluate activities or pre-approve activities for CMP credit.

IHMM does not review, accredit, or approve any one course, course provider, or resource over the others.

Below are various organizations that sponsor activities that have previously been found to meet the requirements as a qualified professional development activity under the IHMM recertification program. It is the responsibility of the certificant to ensure that the professional development activity they submit for CMP credit to IHMM meets the requirements of the CHMM Recertification Program.
