If your facility is a Small Quantity Generator (SQG) of hazardous waste, mark your calendar — September 1, 2025 is the deadline for your quadrennial re-notification to the EPA.
This is not your regular hazardous waste report. Instead, it is a required update to your EPA Site Identification Form (Form 8700-12) under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) to keep EPA records accurate.
Who Must File
You are an SQG if your facility generates:
More than 100 kg (220 lbs) but less than 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs) of non-acute hazardous waste per month, and
Less than 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of acute hazardous waste per month.
How to File
Preferred: File electronically via MyRCRAID (available in many states).
Or submit Form 8700-12 by paper if required by your state.
Applies only in states that have adopted the Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule.
Other Generator Categories
Large Quantity Generators (LQGs) have biennial reporting requirements due March 1 of even-numbered years.
Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs) are generally not required to re-notify.
⚠️ Reminder: Failure to meet the deadline may result in enforcement action under RCRA.
Stay compliant — verify your generator status, update your information, and submit your form before September 1, 2025.
