The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) is committed to impartiality and objectivity in every aspect of our operation. We have intentionally structured ourselves to segregate responsibilities in our organization to facilitate this impartiality and objectivity. The IHMM is governed by its policies and procedures stipulated in its Bylaws, Management Systems Manual, and Code of Ethics. IHMM understands the threat to impartiality that includes, but is not limited to, self-interest, activities from related bodies, and relationships of personnel, financial interests, conflict of interest, familiarity, and intimidation.
IHMM adheres to principles of impartiality in all its dealings. IHMM enforces its commitment to the impartiality standard by continually monitoring processes to assure impartiality. All applications are subject to the same consistent criteria, all applications are reviewed, the staff ensures compliance with policies and procedures, and IHMM goes through an audit annually.
Impartiality is a consideration across all aspects of the IHMM certification programs and personnel. IHMM annually conducts a threat analysis to ensure the implementation of policies and procedures and decisions related to certification are fair and applied consistently across all applicants, candidates, and certified persons. The IHMM certifications are awarded solely on the individuals’ ability to meet and maintain certification requirements.
We welcome any suggestions on how we can improve our implementation of certification activities.
