The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition just ahead of its 40th anniversary celebration to be held December 3, 2024. For 40 years, IHMM has protected the environment and the public’s health, safety, and security through the creation of credentials that recognize professionals who have demonstrated a high level of knowledge, expertise, and excellence in the management of hazardous materials, dangerous goods transportation, environmental protection, health, and safety.

“IHMM deeply appreciates Maryland 8th Congressional District Congressman Jamie Raskin securing this recognition from the Congress,” says Executive Director Eugene A. Guilford Jr. “Professional credential work is all about personal achievement. The people who come to us do so with dreams of achieving a distinction for themselves that reflects their commitment to excellence and their achievement as a professional. We are here to help people succeed in their desire for personal achievement,” Mr. Guilford adds.

In partnership with its 501(c)(3) foundation, the Hazardous Materials Society (HMS), IHMM’s mission is to set standards of excellence for professional credentials to advance the global environmental, health, and safety communities of practice. Currently offering nine professional credentials, two student credentials, and one micro-credential, IHMM is on track to provide additional credentials for certificants in the near future.
