Chemical Safety Board Funding
We started with the Administration number of “0,” and then went to work on the House and Senate to make sure that the Chemical Safety Board was fully funded at $14 million for 2026. We are pleased to announce that after much work with many organizations, the House voted 397 – 28 and the Senate 82-15 to give the CSB the $14 million, and on January 23, 2026, the President signed the legislation into law. Achieving this goal is a testament to how many voices make a difference.
OSHA/NIOSH Funding
On January 22, the U.S. House passed 341-88 the final Fiscal Year 2026 (FY 26) appropriations minibus package covering Defense, Labor-Health and Human Services-Education, Homeland Security, and Transportation-Housing and Urban Development. The funding for OSHA and NIOSH is in this “minibus” legislation, along with the Department of Homeland Security. Recent events have stirred opposition to funding DHS in some circles, and now the prospects for the minibus in the Senate, against the January 30th Continuing Resolution deadline, make easy passage of the Senate legislation difficult. 4 days to a potential shutdown of the agencies in the minibus.
