What or who motivated you to earn an IHMM credential?
I’m motivated by protecting people and building stronger, more consistent safety programs. Earning the ASHM was a way to validate my knowledge, sharpen my skills, and keep raising the bar for how I support employees and leadership.
Are there any opportunities you’re looking forward to as a result of earning an IHMM credential?
I’m looking forward to taking on larger, more complex safety initiatives and contributing at a higher level, especially around management systems, risk reduction, and continuous improvement. It also helps strengthen credibility when partnering with leadership and field teams.
What would you say to someone who is considering earning an IHMM credential?
If you’re serious about safety as a career, it’s worth it. It helps you structure what you already know, identify gaps, and it signals to employers and peers that you’re committed to professional growth and doing the job the right way.
How did you approach the process of earning your credential (e.g., exam prep, experience documentation, professional development, etc.)?
The ASHM is eligibility-based, so I prepared by completing my Occupational Safety & Health degree and continuously applying those concepts on the job, while keeping my documentation and professional development organized and up to date.
